ABOUT OUR LISTINGS: Well, I guess that it's been about five years (1998?) since I started this ferret vet listings page. My, how time flies. It all began as a sort of living tribute to my favorite ferret, Quincy, when I moved to a new area and had trouble finding a good vet to perform his first adrenal surgery. It occurred to me that other probably had this same problem as well, and I wanted to do what I could to help ease people's concerns during difficult times. Quincy finally passed away in June of 2002, many surgeries later, leaving me with many loving memories. Believe it or not, back in the day, I used to actually call each vet's office personally to check them out before adding them to the listings. Now, due to time constraints, that has long been impossible. So, in order to do the best that I can to maintain the integrity of this listing, I try to be as selective as the nature of this page allows, before I list a vet. A good number of these vets have been nominated by ferret shelters around the country. And for all the people that have helped me by nominating vets, or by taking time to email me when the vet's information changes, I am grateful. I haven't thanked all of you nearly enough. Sometimes people submit vets to this listing, and then email me questioning why their submissions have not been added to the list. Because this list has already grown substantially, I often wait before adding new listings until a vet has multiple recommendations. So, if you do not see your submission right away, please be assured that I have not forgotten or ignored it. I keep a file of submissions and comments that are emailed to me on record. Also, if it is appears as if a vet does not regularly perform ferret surgeries, I usually attempt to avoid adding them to the list (depending on whether or not there are other available vets in the area). Just my own personal opinion, but it really seems to me that a ferret vet should be able to perform ferret surgeries. Nonetheless, despite my efforts, as mentioned above, I simply cannot either personally know or be responsible for the work of any of the vets listed on this page. They are provided as a service to people looking for vets, and all that I can really do is hope that they have been helpful.
