47th Scout Dog Platoon- Vietnam Veteran's site dedicated to the 47th IPSD - a specialized platoon of dog handlers and their Scout Dogs that served in combat in Vietnam from 5/68-7/71. Scout Dogs were German Shepards used at the point of infantry patrols to provide early, silent warning. The teams are recognized as having saved thousands of lives during the War and the the bond formed between dog and handler was special and unique.
